It’s understood by all accounts that GL based Advenza Freight, the railfreight arm of spot hire company Cotswold Rail, have won a new flow between West Burton and Tilbury Docks. With Advenza taking delivery of 66841 from Glasgow yesterday (well, er, see below) and 66842 due in a month or so, it is likely that the flow will be in the hands of the Type 5 pair when it starts at the beginning of June.
The trains are booked to run as follows – times with thanks to Martin Reeve;

66841
The above loco was collected from Springburn Works at Glasgow yesterday, ready to start revenue earning service for AFL. However it seems it was not Advenza’s day – running as 0Z66 to Longport from Glasgow several hours later than planned (a total of 414 delay minutes attributed!), 66841 failed south of Carlisle and had to be recovered and brought back to Carlisle by 57316. It’s thought that the ’shed’ sat down because of problems with it’s No. 5 traction motor.
Better luck next time!
